Materials for each costume:
- 1 to 2 yards of paper (the paper used was bulletin board paper, cut from rolls)
- scissors
- pencils, markers, crayons
- stapler
Fold the paper to leave over a yard on one side.
Draw a circle and cut 1/2 the circle in the center of the fold (neck).
Open the paper and cut a line in the back of the costume.
From the center of the hole, cut 3-5 inches straight down (this allows the head to fit through the hole). |

Make additional accessories (fish, ice).
Make hats by drawing a hat, cutting it out and stapling it to a strip of paper to fit a head.
Draw and color the costume.
Costumes are ready for the story. Students can use Venn diagram to compare and contrast jobs from long ago to current jobs.
Family research can reveal jobs their ancestors had. |
