PROJECT A: DISCUSSION, LOSS AND EMPATHY |
This can be a very moving and emotional lesson for the students. Sharing an experience of someone they have lost in their lives. It can be a relative, friend, pet, or a loved one they have never seen. Tears will be shed and empathy freely given and understood.
Procedure:
- Read WHERE IS GRANDPA? to the class.
- Discussion followed.
- Students were asked to think of a loved one they have lost.
- Write at least 7 things they remember about the loved one.

PROJECT B: MEMORY BRACELET |

Materials needed:
Beads
"Pipe" cleaners/twistees/string
Paper
Pencil |
|

|
|
|
Stringing beads through the pipe cleaner. |
|
|
|
|
|
Chose varied beads in different shapes and colors to match each memory. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The ends of the pipe cleaner is now ready to be wrapped. |
|
|
|
|
|
Wrap around the wrist and twist the end round and round to form a bracelet (not too tight). |
|
|
|
|
|
Each student shared memories of their loved ones with the class. |
|
|
|
|
|
There were tears, hugs, emotions, love and caring, and deeper understanding between all of the students. |
|
|
|
|
|
They will share their Memory Bracelets at home with their family. |
